Assos is an ancient city 9 km from Sokakağz. It was established on the summit and slopes of a volcanic hill at the southern tip of the region, which in ancient times was called Troas.
Assos was also visited by Paul, and the city is therefore considered sacred by Christians. It is perhaps the only place where the great temple attributed to Athena, the only daughter of Zeus, the god of the gods, is located, where Aristotle spent 3 years of his life, and a statue of him was erected at its entrance. The statue of Aristotle greets you at the entrance to the ancient city.
Assos is also important for the history of philosophy due to the fact that Aristotle, one of the great thinkers of Antiquity, lived in the ancient city for three years and founded a philosophical school.
